herro blogland
still on the cape and having quite the time. yesterday lank and mama and i tackled The Breakwater in Provincetown which was amile long rock jetty stretching out across the bay. This involved lots of jumps and landings and scrambles and leaps and crawls, and MY MOM HANDLED IT ALL! for those of you who don't know, my mom has Mysthenia Gravis which is a really sucky neuro-muscular disease. her immune system basically gets over-active and tries to destroy her muscles. When i was little she was sick frequently, like to the point she had to go to the hospital and be in a wheelchair or on a ventilator. Well thank g-d treatment has improved and with the new experimental meds she's on have given me a new physically fit mama!! she came to cape cod last summer for a conference and couldn't walk more than three hundred feet WITH a walker. Now she was able to do this physically challenging rock wall with me and not slow me down at all.
When we got to the other side of rock jetty my brother decided we should go on over to the beach on the other side of these dunes. he was like, it's right over this hill guys come on, and he ran off. my mom and i slogged through the deep sand to get to the beach, surprised by a new hill after each dune that crested. we finally got there and i looked out over the ocean and i saw huge black storm cloud. oh geez. so my mom took a quick dip in the ocean to cool off and we headed back just as the rain started. we had the mile of big rocks to cross in front of us, and now they were wet rocks and we were being pelted by rain. then the thunder started and mom told us to climb down into the rocks. when that stopped we resumed our climb and jump and leap and crawl and walk and finally made it, just as the rain stopped. it was quite a harrowing adventure and i was so proud of my mama :)
Today I ran FIVE MILES!!! I am totally amazed I didn't realize it was that far until I googled it when i got back here. that's pretty fricken sweet. I also worked on the book. My mom is taking a nap and after that I think we should be headed to a beach for some late afternoon/evening swimming. and i wanna get frozen yogurt. my (2nd eldest) sister laura and her bf dave are here too which is nice :)
we are staying at cottage grove in eastham and i recommend it. i like it here.

blogging on da bus!
give some a slight tummyache... but it is awful neat and FUN. actually the tummyache might be the result of the dirty-water dog i scarfed from the stand as i baked in line for the MEGABUS. It left fifteen minutes late but I don't care, I'm always late, as long as it doesn't come early then it is the bus for me.
It was more than ten dollars cheaper than greyhound. and it beats the heck out of the chinatown bus b/c i don't have to go down to chinatown, the workers speak better english and are marginally less gruff, and there is free wifi! plus i've had one chinatown bus trip where the heat didn't work in January and I had to put on all the clothes I had in my luggage and I was still freezing, and another chinatown bus trip where the exhaust from the engine was somehow coming into the bus and people were getting headaches and barfing so i popped out the emergency hatch on the ceiling because the bus driver WOULD NOT stop and we needed oxygen. That made him stop.
so, IMHO, megabus gets thumbs up and chinatown bus gets thumbs down except for mega short trips like to philly.
I am super-tired. i couldn't sleep in the death heat last night and i don't have money to run the A.C. sucks. but that's what it is. also i was nervous because i always get nervous before any trip, stupid but true. I am going to Cape Cod with my mama :) never been there and i've never been on with my mama before it will be mostly just she and i, but my brother kevin will be around too which is great because he wants to go biking, hiking, swimming, running and kayaking with me.
my headphones died and i had to pay $10 for a crap pair of "colby" headphones in Penn Station. What a gyp. they are like $2 at the discount store. highway robbery! oh well at least they work. sort of
ok i'm gonna go take a nap b/c this air conditioning is the bee knees!
ps. i really like this ring:
(by violet darkling)
i want it!
UPDATE I WOKE UP FREEZING and had to put on all the clothes and towels so i wouldn't die of hypothermia. geez. this is very silly. i'm almost to albany now. my papa is gonna pick me up.

in which oni gets SOAKED!
I went for a run and it was about ten millions degrees and mega humid and around the second mile the sky split and dumped neighborhood-sized bucket of cool water all over me. Thunderstorms ftw :) totally worth it as long as my ipod shuffle survives and my sneakers dry out eventually. makes me very glad i have two pairs of running shoes :)

I have sand in my bed.
trying to edit, as per usual. drinking iced coffee... found a packet of splenda in my sister's old purse. already nervous about tomorrow morning's coffee and the only sweetener we have in stock at the batcave is nasty pink packet sugar substitute and i hate it. tomorrow morning might just have to a dunkin donuts day.
i gave the pink ponies my first chapter and now i have even more edits to input on top of the conglomerated edits for pages 60-100. and of course i have yet to conglomerate and then input the edits for the remaining 130 pages. so... yeah. uphill battle. especially because the internet is more fun than inputting edits. oh well. the internets never made anyone independently wealthy.... oh wait yep they did. but not me. so i need to finish this damn novel already! but if i do that then i have to begin the super-duper-scary rejection-fest that is shopping for an agent. so... foot dragging and procrastination.
I spent the afternoon at the beach. fan-freaking-tastic! i love orchard beach. i was the only white girl there, as per usual. we braved the rain showers and we won because the last two hours were picture perfect beach day hours. lots of swimming and sunning and fun. i met a little girl (because i always do, because i am a child-magnet, a baby-whisperer, whatever) and we were playing in the ocean swimming around and stuff and she asked me how old i was and i did what i always do and asked her how old was she? and she said 8. and so i asked her how old did she guess i was and she said 13 and it made me laugh. good times.
*note: i am 27.
I wanted to post pics from the garden so i'm gonna do that now ok? (you can't actually stop me so just say ok, ok?)
woah brian just gave me half a burrito and it is like nuclear fire ball hot. why is everything so flipping spicy!!! my mouth hurts.
wahwahwahwah
anyway that's my garden. basil and tomato and oregano and strawberry.
i don't have much room so i only grow foods. decorative plants can be nice i guess but i've never bothered with them, excepting one jade plant that had immense sentimental value. speaking of which, it had been living at my mom's for about three years, i should get a cutting.
i'm going upstate on the 27th so if you live around there i'll see you then :)
extraneous pictures i've been meaning to post:
one of my young charges is getting fitted for braces:
her sister saw this photo, which their mom sent to us on my cell phone, and decided to shoot a mocking recreation of this pic back to her sister. I wish i had saved it. tres amusing. Chloe is only five but she knows almost all the steps in creating and texting a picture message.
i like ice cream:
i like going to the pool with the children:
and trying on stuff at the mexican jewelry store:
ok my lovely lovelies. my mouth still hurts and i drank all my iced coffee. that's as good a reason as any to get back to work.

my teef hurt
my medicaid dentist is not the best. if you need to go see a medicaid dentist in the bronx i do not recommend dr. gordon on pelham parkway. my teeth didn't hurt before!! they hurt really bad all day now.
today was a long long day because i went to the ale house last night for a most epic drinking monday (the one night a week when tons of my friends get together and go to the bar) an evening which occasioned use of a second table, and then necessitated the pulling out of that table from the wall to accommodate all the attendees. It was a raucous good time but I went home later than I should have and woke later than I planned too. I was meant to go to the gym with Terrell this morning and then swimming but I could barely make it out of bed in time for work. I managed that though and then went on the hellish boring plodding journey that is my eight-mile hour-and-fifteen-minute snail's pace commute. the 1 train at 207 street was closed and i didn't have time to ride down to dyckman and change trains so i just waited for another 12 select bus and took that to isham and ran for the 7 bus (which i missed) and then i went into a Dominican greasy spoon for an espresso b/c i was dragging and i was like well I'm late already so hang it all. but then as the espresso machine was expressing it's dark liquid wake-up juice i saw the 7 bus out the window and apologized to the lady, gave her my last $1 and ran for the bus.
I made it to Chloe's school on time and then we had this fascinating conversation about how she likes to play The Sims 3 on her mother's i-phone (she is four and knows all about i-phone applications because her father runs some sort of app-review entity) and anyway she was saying how it was odd that in the lamp store her Sim could buy a menorah or a kinara (for kwanzaa) but when her Sim went to he plant store he could not find any christmas trees. i was a little astounded at her logic and categorizing abilities. I am amazed when she reads to me and tackles words like "martian" and "distinctly" without a moment's pause.
then she made a most telling observation. she told me that her Sim could play on the computer, but the only option of computing activity available to him was playing The Sims 3. And she asked me why that was the only thing her Sim could do on the computer because she has a computer and it can do lots of things. So we talked about marketing. I really like Chloe.
then we got sophie and I saw Igor and Julie
from the family
I used to work for, and
(this is masha from the family i used to work for)
also Luka, my little hyperactive half-Georgian half-Russian friend and his bube, Vera, who doesn't speak any English. I had missed her so we had a nice reunion of sorts with lots of hugs and bad English and worse Russian.
then i took the girls to their home. we played for a minute and then all they mostly wanted to do was to play Club Penguin! This is MMOG (similar to Second Life). so that part of my day i was left to myself and thinking about the implications of growing up on Club Penguin in a child's identity development...as they grow into myspacers and face bookers and then linkedinners. If I ever go to Georgetown or RPI for the doctorate programs I was accepted to I will definitely add this to my research possibilities. I've been working on a thesis proposal basically applying old identity theory to the new "E-dentities" created by participants in online communities.
yawn. i'm super tired and sore in the muscles and my teeth hurt. I have work to do though so i must be going.

smell you later!

Greetings meatlings :P
i've been working out like it's my job. but it ain't i don't get paid. i am taking a class for legal proofreading and then trying to work for metroproof with timmers. i should be able to get the job because i worked for the new york state legislature's bill drafting commission as a proofer. it's goo dmoney and the hours should be alright too.
today i met some old yenta's at the gym. i went swimming with them. one of them gave me her card and said i lave you! (she's ukranian) i want t0o nail you! marry me
it was very bizarre indeed. she's like 70 years old. in other news i recently went rock climbign with cere whcih was very fun. i accidently fell off a traverse wall and smashed my nose with my knee then blood came out. one thing I really like about Brooklyn Boulders is how awesome the mural artist are that have worked there. check out a little taste:
I'm a certified belayer now :) awesomeness.
I saw a Christmas Carol in 3-D Imax with ewaen, it was awesome. Very beautiful effects.
he looked cute in the silly glasses.
oh wait i forgot i wanted to warn you i saw the most f*cked up movie ever on the IFC channel. it is called AntiChrist. if anyone asks you would you like to see it you would be well advised to say NO!
Ha i just went to lean back on the couch and almost squished dittocat! i didn't even realize he had snuck up on me.
I went to the library today and got some new ghetto trashy romance novels, a new Maeve Binchy (I love her!) and some other assorted stuff that is actually literature as opposed to brain candy.
hmm what else do i have for you tonight? i'm tired. lots to do. i'm washing all the clothes because my goodness they are allllll dirty! i really have to get better at this domestic stuff.
here is the rockwall i fell off of the top of:
the best four birthday presents i got were: Who Killed Amanda Palmer book,
strawberry pocky:
a gorgeous leather jacket from my da
and a bunny with moustache :) mine is pink and it has a butthole
