birthday bash!

by Kelly Carman
i had my birthday party last night and it was great!  thanks to all my friends for coming and extra thanks to foley for hosting and extra double thanks to LEAH AND DOUG who brought party decorations, foods, and amazing CUPCAKES WITH TINY PIES BAKED INSIDE THEM!  i made everyone dance to 90's dance music and hip hop and RnB.  i puffed with tobais fuke, i hugged a man with a snake for a penis, i chatted forever with lydia deetz and a shark bite victim.  the new liquor store that just opened nearby was visited by a dispatch from our party, in full halloween regalia, and the hispanic family that own the store all sang happy birthday to me!  my costume was a great sucess and i was very happy.  i drank too much though as i am apt to do and had to sleep most of the day with terrible headache.  and then i had to clean up and it was very very messy.  but that's ok.  i went home and finished reading "Island Beneath the Sea" by Isabel Allende which was about a slave and a concubine and Haiti before it was a haiti.  it was extremely moving and beautiful.  i would have made it a bit shorter if i was the editor, a few parts were clunky or boring but overall it was a great book.  i have gotten some swell b-day gifts so far including an awesome black gold earring for my rook from dann, a claw money hoodie from foley (claw is one of my favorite graffiti artists of all time), a kettle bell from brian for workouts, a kindle from papa (have yet to order that though, i should get on that, earrings and pez and buttons and light up bracelets from the lovely kelly, superstickers and baked things from doug and leah, and stoli from me!

here's pics of guests!  i stole them all because i didn't have any batteries for my camera.

um guys...  so i couldn't sleep welll last night so instead i slept late today.  now i feel a bad case of lazies.  i want to go to the bank and get quarters and wash my stinkin clothes.  but i doubt that will happen.

tonight is the housewarming party for my dear friend doug!  he is moving with foley, of dingle-fame.  i am heading down to saigon, brooklyn, for an evening's worth of drinky silly party fun.   i am bringing them gifts: a basil seedling and a tomato seedling. i would give each a week before they sucuumb to bacheloritis (the plants not the two fellas) but doug has a wonderful gf Leah who i adore and she is a vegan and g-d knows they love plants.  or maybe they really hate plants?  i eat chicken and i hate chickens.  so maybe?  hmm.  but i don't eat JUST chicken.  so i think we can assume vegans really super-hate vegetables.

okay that's just about enough lazy for today.  on to the good stuff.  like doing work and going to the gym.

Hello my lovelies

Today I am a very sore and tired Oni!  Sunday's workout was extremely intense and my trainer is insane.  I hate that second-day-after soreness from weightlifting.  makes me want to go to sleep.

Last night I went out to the 12th St Ale House on 2nd avenue.  I like that bar, and I have a slight crush on one of the bartenders.  My company for the evening were the venerable mr. foley (he is my longest running drinking buddy and a fabulous fellow, you'll see more of him on these pages later, and his good friend Max, who I believe I may have met before, but I'm not sure.  Foley makes a wonderful web comic, and you can read it if you click that link there with his name on it.

We had a few drinks and then parted ways, Max going to a friend's couch to crash and foley and myself taking off for Ridgewood.  We then visited with ms. kiwi in vietnam (an affection name for Kiwi and Timbo's apartment.)  Foley told a fantastical story (plot for a new novel if I recall correctly), I went out on the fire escape and looked at the sky, and I wrote some in my little notebook.  After many hours I fell asleep on the couch in the redroom.  In the morning Timbo came home from his work and we watched the Maltese Falcon.  Welll I didn't watch the whole thing because it was time for me to head home.  I need to work on my novel today.  It's called Three.  I think you will like it when I get it done.

Today I am very tired as well.  For breakfast I had a McDonald's milk shake and a chicken salad.  Now I am going to make a big ole pot of chicken soup with matzoh balls.  not a good day to be a chicken.

oh, have you ever tried chicken and waffles?  if you are in new york head up to amy ruth's in harlem and get some.  amazing.
