here's a guy in a bucket:

I've gotten a lot of new music lately from www.rcrdlbl.com so i wanna shout them out.  best place i've found to get LEGAL downloads that are high quality and easy to download.  highlights of my recent downloads include hits by Kanye West, Das Racist, Florence and the Machine, Asobi Seku, Anjulie, Hesta Prynn, Heiroglyphics, DJ Premier, Doc Ish and a buttload of others.  I got a happy happy ipod.

this supersoaker just came out and the 2011 toy fair and it has a motorized pump and i  think that's lame.  dang, kids are so lazy these days.

this is an analog tetris game that combines tetris and connect four and it looks dope!  buy me one please.

hmm what else.  wants to give you guys a heads up on the navy's new death ray thingie.  if you watched real genius in the 80's, well it's like that, except instead of filling a douchebag's house with popcorn this one's gonna melt cities and satellites and sech.  yeaaaah.

zausted now and trying to listen to my body maybe take a nap?

ps.  need help to pick new hairstyle. either going super short like emma watson had anddying my hair brown, or keeping the l;ength and bleaching it out white-like. lemme know what you think

Things I Love Thursday :) TILT TIME!

1. my papa and my mom.  my dad always has my back, no matter what i do.  and he is my #1 fan.  and my mom is so sweet.  when she heard my fridge died she wanted to buy me another one, even though she can't afford it.  fortunately Brian fixed it.  Oh and when I was very sick both of them called me a lot to take care of me!!

2. CalorieCount
I've used this free and relatively easy-to-use website for years.  Last time I was using it religiously I was able to drop fifty pounds and keep track of all my nutrients and minerals.  This time I'm using it to drop ten and I started yesterday and I've already dropped weight!  By using math, graphs, and clear displays I'm able to track what I need to reach my goals without succumbing to "magical thinking" or other unhealthy thought patterns.

3. My garden!!  It is a bit decimated (I like that word, decimate technically means to kill every tenth man) but it still produces.  I decided to put up some basil today.  I upcycled a few things round the house and it came out quite nice.  I think I will give one to my friends for their housewarming.  Or maybe I will give them a plant of basil I don't know.  But it's nice to have on hand.
and yes, I have my own pinking shears.  My apartment is a wonderland of stuff like that.

5. My knee being better and my lil sister for helping me find out what kind of exercises to do to stop it from happening again.  She's in physical therapy school and she's a single mom and she's amazing :)  I love her so much.  She is very positive and fit and energetic and hardworking,  She inspires me.

6. Oh and MIR MIR!!  my sister is the best she brought me soup and is helping me with my career.  she always makes time to talk with me, whether it is something important or I just need directions to the nearest Bank Of America ATM. (I don't have a SmartPhone so i just call my SmartSis).  And we are going to go to Spa Castle for my birthday!!!!!!!  which is november 2nd and don't you forget it.  Buy me presents from the amazon wishlist that is linked somewhere on the right-hand column of this page, or from somewheres else, or not :)

Funny Food Photos - Viking Melon

um guys...  so i couldn't sleep welll last night so instead i slept late today.  now i feel a bad case of lazies.  i want to go to the bank and get quarters and wash my stinkin clothes.  but i doubt that will happen.

tonight is the housewarming party for my dear friend doug!  he is moving with foley, of dingle-fame.  i am heading down to saigon, brooklyn, for an evening's worth of drinky silly party fun.   i am bringing them gifts: a basil seedling and a tomato seedling. i would give each a week before they sucuumb to bacheloritis (the plants not the two fellas) but doug has a wonderful gf Leah who i adore and she is a vegan and g-d knows they love plants.  or maybe they really hate plants?  i eat chicken and i hate chickens.  so maybe?  hmm.  but i don't eat JUST chicken.  so i think we can assume vegans really super-hate vegetables.

okay that's just about enough lazy for today.  on to the good stuff.  like doing work and going to the gym.

today's my day off, and i'm loving it

but i also love my job. sophie and chloe are awesome, rollerskating is awesome, discussing things with them and their friends is awesome because they have very fresh perspectives.  i love going to the playground, i love making things with children, cooking with them, reading with them. I even like making food for them.   It is pretty sweet.

woot.  i did laundry and took care of my animals and did dishes and mopped the kitchen and stuff!  now i am going to go for a run when my ipod is charged.  i always forget to charge it.  i had a fool's errand i went to the gym, went on the rower for like ten minutes then my ipod died, then i went to my house, realized i left my keys on the machine at the gym, went to the gym got the keys, came  home and now i don't wanna go back.  so i'll go running it's a beautiful day here in the bronx!  i really like living on a parkway because there are so many trees.  (especially ones with flowers ).  alright.  i think ill drink some water the i'm gone :)

my teef hurt

my medicaid dentist is not the best. if you need to go see a medicaid dentist in the bronx i do not recommend dr. gordon on pelham parkway. my teeth didn't hurt before!! they hurt really bad all day now.

today was a long long day because i went to the ale house last night for a most epic drinking monday (the one night a week when tons of my friends get together and go to the bar) an evening which occasioned use of a second table, and then necessitated the pulling out of that table from the wall to accommodate all the attendees. It was a raucous good time but I went home later than I should have and woke later than I planned too. I was meant to go to the gym with Terrell this morning and then swimming but I could barely make it out of bed in time for work. I managed that though and then went on the hellish boring plodding journey that is my eight-mile hour-and-fifteen-minute snail's pace commute. the 1 train at 207 street was closed and i didn't have time to ride down to dyckman and change trains so i just waited for another 12 select bus and took that to isham and ran for the 7 bus (which i missed) and then i went into a Dominican greasy spoon for an espresso b/c i was dragging and i was like well I'm late already so hang it all. but then as the espresso machine was expressing it's dark liquid wake-up juice i saw the 7 bus out the window and apologized to the lady, gave her my last $1 and ran for the bus.

I made it to Chloe's school on time and then we had this fascinating conversation about how she likes to play The Sims 3 on her mother's i-phone (she is four and knows all about i-phone applications because her father runs some sort of app-review entity) and anyway she was saying how it was odd that in the lamp store her Sim could buy a menorah or a kinara (for kwanzaa) but when her Sim went to he plant store he could not find any christmas trees. i was a little astounded at her logic and categorizing abilities. I am amazed when she reads to me and tackles words like "martian" and "distinctly" without a moment's pause.

then she made a most telling observation. she told me that her Sim could play on the computer, but the only option of computing activity available to him was playing The Sims 3. And she asked me why that was the only thing her Sim could do on the computer because she has a computer and it can do lots of things. So we talked about marketing. I really like Chloe.

then we got sophie and I saw Igor and Julie
from the family I used to work for, and

(this is masha from the family i used to work for)

also Luka, my little hyperactive half-Georgian half-Russian friend and his bube, Vera, who doesn't speak any English. I had missed her so we had a nice reunion of sorts with lots of hugs and bad English and worse Russian.

then i took the girls to their home. we played for a minute and then all they mostly wanted to do was to play Club Penguin! This is MMOG (similar to Second Life). so that part of my day i was left to myself and thinking about the implications of growing up on Club Penguin in a child's identity development...as they grow into myspacers and face bookers and then linkedinners. If I ever go to Georgetown or RPI for the doctorate programs I was accepted to I will definitely add this to my research possibilities. I've been working on a thesis proposal basically applying old identity theory to the new "E-dentities" created by participants in online communities.

yawn. i'm super tired and sore in the muscles and my teeth hurt. I have work to do though so i must be going.

smell you later!

long time no post

I wrote 3071 words of my novel yesterday.  Today I didn't write any words.  I was tired.  dittocat was sick last night!  he had the sh!ts and kept me up.  I still woke up early and went to my gym and forced a hard workout outta this here bag 'o bones I inhabit.
Then I came home and convinced my roommate to make me lunch-huzzah for double cheese grilled cheese!

We watched Seinfeld and I edited my friend's new novel chapter for my writing group tonight.  Then I went down to mid-town to meet up with my beloved papa.  On sis1's recommendation we ate at Tir Na Nog (an Irish restaurant and pub) by Madison Square Garden.  The whole area outside the Garden was hopping, with tons of security and paparazzi, so i guess there was a big concert there tonight.  At the restaurant I had salmon with fennel and pepper over risotto.  Quite delicious.  Oh and I also enjoyed a Hoegarden and shared a creme brulee (my first ever!) with my father.  During supper we talked about his meeting with the Insurance Superintendent and about a few things with the Collateral Loan Broker's Association.  We talked about my hopes to find a significant other and gainful employment, and about my cats stomach troubles.  We talked about my impending birth day (Nov. 2nd) and we talked about hospital bills.  I like visiting with my father very much!  After we ate we had a few minutes and went to visit one of the pawn broker's.  My father introduced me to Mr. Ross, who is 81 years old and still working full-time!  Mr. Ross was kind enough to show me his vault and also his vintage photographs are of old Pawn Broker's Association Annual Meetings.  The picture from 1906 at the Hotel Savoy was my favorite.  The men all have the same magnificent mustache it seems, and they are all making the same "this-is-my-serious-face" expression.

Following that visit I was off on the A train for W4 st. to meet up with the Pink Ponies, my fabulous writing group.  We were sidelined for a few minutes by the lack of available seating. They turned the downstairs of the TeaSpot into a wine and tapas bar!! Just what the world needs  Now we are in the market for a new place to meet, on the East side of Manhattan preferably, with wi-fi, available seating, and also plugs for laptop power cords.  We used to meet in the Cafe at Balducci's but it was very cold and then of course it closed.  We have been meeting alternately at Cafe Mocha on the East Side and the Tea Spot on the West, but Mocha lacks electrical outlets, and the Tea Spot now lacks seating.  Botheration!!

I read a book on the train today about the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It was a very quick and interesting read and I would recommend it.  I like literature and fiction about cults.  I'm not sure why.  I think it is interesting.  I ponder how it is that an organization or religion gets the label "cult" when other similar religions or organizations are never labeled as such.  I am of the personal opinion (after research beyond this one text) that the FLDS was, and may still be, detrimental to the health and well-being of women and children.
I have also had an interest in polygamy since 12th grade Participation in Government Class, where I presented a bill to our mock-legislature which argued for the repeal of anti-bigamy legislation.  I did that mainly because I wanted a spicy topic, but it got me interested in this lifestyle and its permutations throughout history and in various cultural milieus. My thoughts on the topic are varied and I'm far too tired to go into them now but we can discuss it some other time if you like.
I want some ramen, but it's late and I'm tired.
